Barrie Central’s very own Improv Team, called 50 Shades of Grape, competed for a spot in the Canadian Improv Games (CIG) finals at Innisdale on Tuesday February 11th 2014 at 7:30pm. Team members Austin, Sher, Julia, Cayleigh, Jay, Austin, Eden, Dunja, David, and Kiera competed with 10 other teams. Central’s team made it into the top five and moved onto the next level before the finals.
50 Shades of Grape then came in fifth, so they moved onto the next level of competition. When adjudicated that evening by Connor and his co – adjudicator, the pair said Central “are a very strong team (…) They don’t need structures.”
On Friday February 14th 2014, Barrie Central’s 50 Shades of Grape again competed, against 4 other teams, at Nottawasaga Pines at 7:30pm. The competition was fierce, fun, and full of laughs and support.
“The improv community is just so supportive of each other. There’s a lot of love and kindness,” said one of the members of Central's team. 50 Shades of Grape now hope they can make it to the finals.
