"Jack, or the Submission" is going to the Western Regionals...
After their performance on April 2, the cast and crew of "Jack, or the Submission" eagerly awaited for the award ceremony that took place on Saturday, April 5 at Bear Creek - the Georgian Bay District host. After a week of a variety of excellent performances given by schools across the Gerogian Bay District, the Adjudicator, Arkady Spivak (Artistic Director of Talk is Free Theatre) announced the various awards of merit, excellence, and exceptional. These included two honours that uphold Central's long running tradition of success with the Sears Drama Festival: an Award of Merit for Acting to Elizabeth Giffen (Mother Jack) and one of 3 Exceptional Awards - the recipient productions of those 3 awards move on to the Western Regional Festival!
"Jack, or the Submission" will be travelling to Bradford District High School on Thursday, April 24 to perform. From there, one show will move on the the final level of Sears which is the Provincial Showcase in Hamilton from May 7 — May 10. This showcase presents the best productions from across Ontario.
Currently, there are plans to put on an evening performance of "Jack, or the Submission" on at Central to help raise funds for the cost of travel as well as to give those who have yet to see the play a chance to experience it.
