- If you were a student at BCC in the 1840s, you had to pay 4 pounds per year to attend, with an extra fee to pay for fuel in the winter
- Central students in the 1840s came to school on Saturdays (for half a day); summer vacation was from July 1 to July 31, and winter vacation was from December 25 to January 1.
- The first final exams were held on June 29, 1844
- Until 1849, Barrie Central didn’t have its own school building; students went to class on the ground floor of the Court House
