This year at Central, Mr. Cunsolo and his carefully selected cast will be performing the play Medea. It centers around the Greek tragedy of Medea. She is deeply in love and happily married to Jason, with two healthy sons. After he abandons her and their children so as to marry into Creon’s royal family, Medea seeks revenge upon all those who have shamed her. But how far will she take it? “It is such a thrilling play and the cast this year really bring it to life," said Maddie Willcox, one of the stage managers for the show.
It is a drastic change from the atmosphere of the previous play Jack or the Submission, which was an absurdist play. The cast is nevertheless enthusiastic about the script and excited to perform. “It's a nice way to meet new people and to get involved," said Remi Edquist, who is part of the chorus of Corinthian women. Everyone has been hard at work, rehearsing 4 days a week in preparation. Other teachers have been pitching in as well, making masks and costumes for the actors. The rest of the school will get to see the fruits of their labors on Thursday, February 26th, when they will be performing it all day in Central's auditorium. Then, on February 27th, they will be on to the first round of The Sears Drama Festival! Break a leg, everyone!
